Take advantage of these refresher courses, they are less money and take less time than the originals. The recertification courses do not skip or gloss over any section or topics, but give you a chance to showcase what you remember from your last class and focus on things that have changed or may have been forgotten. You must bring your current non-expired certificate to these classes.
Unlike other companies when you sign up for a Recertification course with us on either Monday or every Second Saturday you will be assured that this is only for Refreshers and not for people taking the course for the first time. This ensures that the courses are finished quicker and that more time can be available to specific questions you may ask pertaining to your individual circumstances.
First Aid and CPR guidelines are updated internationally every 5 years. The most recent was in November of 2015. A small example of some of the changes that were made is that CPR is now performed slightly faster. Tourniquets have been re-introduced emphasizing when it is appropriate to use them and when it is not.
Alberta Workplace First Aid and legal requirements will be discussed as will how to properly communicate during an emergency. Discussions will also include the most common injuries Canadians and particularly Albertans face inside the workplace, at home or may experience during recreational activities.

Nurses, Firefighters, Lifeguards and other professionals are required to take a Recertification course every year. So know your industry and know when you must have these courses completed by. CPR Awards are good for 2 years in Alberta, First Aid Awards do not expire for 3 years.
A common question that is asked for Standard First Aid Recertification is; do I also get Recertified in CPR “C” and AED? The answer is yes, a completed Recertification will result in the same Certification as taking the original course again.
We Teach Lifesaving Society courses which are all approved by Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S). Approved companies and list of courses can all be found on the OH&S website. There is still no written tests for any of the first aid recertification in Calgary, we only ask for participation and effort in the scenarios we will ask you to complete. The First Aid training tests will be the same as the original course 30 questions for Emergency First aid CPR “C” and AED and 50 questions for Standard First Aid CPR “C” and AED.
The Requirements of completion for each course will be clearly explained at the beginning of each class. Candidates that are unable to complete the requirements for recertification must take the full original course again. However, ProSafe First Aid also makes a commitment to make sure all students that walk out of the class have their questions answered and trained to follow Alberta approved procedures and will give you the confidence to save a live if you are ever needed.
