Why is CPR training necessary? How do I perform CPR? What to do if someone near me is choking? Where can I find an AED? When should I call 911? What do I do if someone may be experiencing a Heart attack, Stroke or going into shock? These are just some of the questions we go over in our CPR Courses, if you cannot answer even one of these questions, then it is highly recommended that you get certified in CPR and AED in either level A, C or HCP. Register with us today and get the knowledge base you need in CPR and first aid training.
CPR saves lives, responding to an event in which someone needs CPR dramatically increases their chances of survival. If you find yourself unwilling or unable to perform CPR we also go over other effective responses. One instance when CPR is necessary are during Cardiac Arrests which occur more than 85% of the time at home.
AED stands for automated external defibrillator, it is a portable device which is found in a variety of places in Alberta. We will go over, where to find one, what exactly does it do, when and how to safely use one. Proper CPR and AED used together according to Harvard University improves survival rates by double versus CPR alone.
We use a variety of teaching methods, which include hands on training, going through topics in the book and discussions in groups. Not only do we teach theory we also talk about many different scenarios you might encounter whether it is at work or at home. We will require you to perform these skills as it encourages muscle memory. For every CPR course you will receive a book which we follow through for every topic. Learn when it is recommended and appropriate to call 911, learn how to not aggravate common injuries and how best to make sure an individual has the highest likelihood of recovering. Learn alternatives to 911, if you’re not sure if it’s an emergency we will recommend calling Alberta’s Healthlink number 811.
